On January 31st, Terra Roots and the Wild Buffalo
are hosting a silent auction to benefit families and
children who have become victims of the Haiti earthquake
disaster.
Please join us for this very important fundraising
effort for people much less fortunate than ourselves,
and who desperately need our help! Local businesses
have been generous enough to donate some wonderful
things for the auction. The
night will be filled with great music and some fantastic
items to bid on!
100% of the door and all of the auction and raffle
proceeds will be donated to the Haitian
Sustainable Development Foundation. This amazing
grassroots non profit organization has already been
working in Haiti in an effort to develop sustainability
around the country. They approach the communities
with sensitivity and careful analysis, empowering them
to create independent, democratically-conscious communities,
without creating a dependency on foreign aid.
Because of the vast devastation and urgent basic needs
of the country they have shifted their program efforts
to rapid response on the ground aid relief including,
water, food, medicine, DR teams, fuel and other critical
supplies. They are partnering with other established
and credible small non-profits and have been successful
in bringing aid to areas not yet reached by other organizations.
Some of these areas spent 6 days with out food or water
and we know there are areas still yet to be reached.
